Our school farm partner, Schoolyard Farms, has opened registration for their 2017 CSA! By becoming a member, you directly support your school farm, local farmers, a stronger local food system, our kids’ health, and the environment.

Sign-up today to receive a weekly bag of fresh vegetables from the New Urban School Farm from June-October. There are also have 7 convenient pick-up locations throughout Portland and Milwaukie and two pick-up days — Tuesday and Wednesday –to choose from, if that works better for you.

The shares are unique because they are sized individually, allowing you to design the ideal share for you or your family. One share is enough for one person who eats a moderate amount of vegetables in a week (about 5 small bunches of vegetables). If you eat a lot of vegetables, we recommend two shares per person. For a family, we recommend 3-4 shares, etc. Each share costs $325 if you’re paying with cash, check or SNAP and $337 if you’re paying with card or e-check.

This year, if you would like to pay for your share with SNAP (formerly called food stamps) and were not a CSA member in 2016, you may be eligible for up to $200 in matching funds through Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB). Schoolyard Farms is trying to spread the word far and wide about the DUFB matching program so that as many low-income families as possible can benefit from a weekly share of fresh vegetables—if you know of anyone who might eligible and interested, please share this announcement with them or have them email Courtney Leeds at courtney@schoolyardfarms.org.
